Transitioning to an inclusive, low-carbon economy in Brazil

Conexsus’ mission is to promote and accelerate a sustainable business ecosystem in Brazil, especially in the Amazon. It acts as an incubator and accelerator for sustainable community-based organisations by facilitating transactions and connections with investors, buyers and other organisations that support their development.

Since its inception in 2017, Conexsus is already working with some 70 community businesses and social impact enterprises in the Amazon region alone. Most of them are community cooperatives and associations producing a variety of agriculture and forest products such as cocoa, acai, Brazil nuts and organic produce. Since most of these community enterprises are disconnected from buyers and consumers, Conexsus supports the initiatives in three main areas: business model development, access to financial resources and commercialisation capacity. Conexsus is also creating opportunities to pilot new financial instruments for these enterprises.

Good Energies provided seed funding to help launch Conexsus’ work in 2017 and is now supporting its expansion. By creating a pipeline of viable and sustainable businesses that ensure alternative livelihoods for the peoples of the Amazon, Conexsus plays an important role in the transition to a low-carbon and inclusive economy in Brazil.
