Pioneers-led initiatives for social change in the Arab world

Synergos is a global organisation helping to solve complex issues around the world by advancing bridging leadership, which builds trust and collective action.

Founded in 1986, Synergos was built on the belief that people in poverty have the energy, knowledge and motivation to address their circumstances, but lack connection to the resources, institutions, and potential partners that can drive meaningful and sustainable change. Synergos works to overcome these challenges by facilitating long term relationships to overcome poverty. In 15 countries across the MENA region, Synergos supports the Arab world's largest network of social entrepreneurs, and globally, their network of leaders include philanthropists, social entrepreneurs and civil society in more than 50 countries.

Over the last seven years, with support from Porticus, Synergos has expanded the Pioneers program in the Arab world. The Pioneers program has successfully strengthened community-led initiatives that promote economic development; developing the skills of promising start-up entrepreneurs; and enhancing the employability of young people. The initiatives led by social entrepreneurs and start-ups span a wide range of sectors including education, community development, arts, media, environment, energy, technology, agriculture, health, and services for people with disabilities.
