Parents-child bonding with The Lullaby Project in North America and beyond

The Community Arts Lab is helping vulnerable families rise and shine through the power of music.

Since opening in New York City in 1891, Carnegie Hall has set the standard for musical excellence as the aspirational destination for the world’s finest artists. The Community Arts Lab (CAL) and Carnegie Hall have been collaborating for some years on different projects combining music education and social impact. Among them is the Lullaby Project which pairs pregnant women and new mothers and fathers with professional artists to write and sing personal lullabies for their babies.

The project reaches parents in healthcare settings, homeless shelters, high schools, foster care and correctional facilities across New York City. The aim is to support maternal health and child development, and strengthen the bond between parents and children. Livestreams of Lullaby Project concerts at Carnegie Hall are available online to share with families and the world.

The Lullaby Project also supports other partner organisations to work with families in their own communities, extending across the United States and internationally through partners like El Sistema Greece which inspires people, including some in refugee camps, to strive for a better future through music.
